ADULT SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION – see the R.C.I.A link under Education
When a loved one dies, the undertaker will contact the parish, then you will receive a call from someone on the parish staff to help you prepare the Liturgy of Christian Burial.
It is the custom in the city of Worcester for the undertakers to include the fee for the church and musicians in the bill they will submit to you and they in turn provide us with a check for $300 that covers all fees associated with a church funeral.
Prospective brides and grooms should contact the church at least one year before a planned wedding date. No definite arrangements should be made with a reception site until the church has been contacted to determine availability of date.
The priest or deacon who will witness your marriage will arrange an initial appointment with you to begin the preparation process. The process involves several sessions with the priest or deacon who will witness your marriage. During those sessions you will complete the diocesan Interrogatory Form to establish your freedom to marry. You will be asked to complete a premarital discussion instrument called “FOCUS”. That will be the basis for your sessions with the priest or deacon and participation in one of two experiences offered engaged couples to meet with married couples who will share some of their experience of living out the Sacrament of Matrimony with you. We offer two opportunities: Engaged Encounter Weekends or Stepping Out in Faith Sessions. When you come to your initial session with the priest or deacon, he will provide you with a packet of information that includes the listing of all fees and names of the organist and cantors together with a disc that presents the various suitable options for music and songs to be used at your wedding ceremony
Please see the Pastor following weekend Mass to schedule a date for the Baptism of infants.
All parents of a first child are expected to participate in a preparation session together with the godparents if possible. The purpose of the session is to focus your attention on the commitment involved with baptizing an infant. In order for someone to function as a sponsor (godparent) for a child, he/she must be baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Church and practicing their faith in some meaningful, ongoing way.
It is permissible for one of two godparents to be a Christian Witness rather than a baptized, confirmed Catholic – someone baptized in another Christian Church.
This Sacrament of Healing is available on request from any baptized Catholic who is suffering from definite illness or weakness. It responds to the words of the early Church found in the Epistle of James 5:14-16. If anyone is suffering from terminal or life threatening disease, family members should contact the rectory as soon as possible.
